The four celebrations that we celebrated were the Opening Mass, Ash Wednesday, Prayer Assembly and Spirituality day. All these four things play a big part in our lives today and always.

My School has prayer assembly every Tuesday in our school hall. We start of every assembly with prayer, a 1st reading and then a Gospel reading. This is followed by a reflection of the two readings, to make us think and understand more fully what the readings were about. Prayer is an important part of our school, and we start everyday with prayer and asking God to help us throughout the day.

Ash Wednesday is the day that prepares us for Lent. On this special day, we prepare for 40 days of sacrifice. We have a special liturgy and at the end, we are called up to the priest to get a cross with ashes on our foreheads as a sign to symbolise penance and repentance. We sacrifice something we like for 40 days because Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days without any food or water. We give up things like chocolate, TV or even meat for those 40 days as a sacrifice for Jesus in the desert.

This year, we had an opening mass at Holy Cross Mango Hill Brisbane, for the start of the year. This was just like a normal mass. We started off with an entrance song, and then that went on to the liturgy of the word (the readings). We heard a story from the gospel before sitting down and listening to the reflection. We then had offertory, where Jesus turns the bread and the wine into body and blood. We finally end with the Eucharist and leave with the leaving song.

We had a Spirituality Day in our school. There were two sisters who came and spoke to us about St. Benedict. The day was about learning about St. Benedict, working as a team, and listening with the ear of our heart.
We had different activities set for us. Some of the activities were fun and energetic and some activities were silent and calm. One of the silent activities was the silent reflection activity. In this particular activity we went to different teachers in different classes and we discussed the following topics, Service, Balance, Community and Prayer. We discussed what these four values mean and how we can use them in our everyday life.

We had a Harmony Day liturgy on the 21st of March. On this special day, we all gathered as a school community and had a special assembly, sort of like a liturgy. There were readings from the Bible and then went proceeded into the 2nd part.
After the readings, there were 4 wooden people that were each cut out and coloured. Each of the people had a different colour, each to represent our house colours, blue, red, yellow and green. We received a piece of paper the day previous in the shape of a person. We were told to write a word that we thought described Harmony Day.
We then came up in a single file line in class order. My class was the first ones to go up. We then had to put of paper people onto the wooden people depending which colour house we were in. I put mine on the blue person. This liturgy helped me think what it would be like if I was getting bullied. I also helped me to stand up for other people who were getting bullied.
