Everyday, we are living in God's promise. If we go back to the time of Noah, God made a promise to him that he is still keeping. God made one major promise to Noah, that was that God will never destroy the earth again.
We, right now, are living in God's promise. God promised that it will be mankind that will destroy the Earth. God has not broken his promise yet. In Genesis 9: 9-12, God tells Noah and his sons that he will never destroy this Earth by a flood ever again.
God's covenant to Abraham was to lead his people, the Israelite's, to the promised land. God blessed Abraham at the age of 100 with a son called Isaac. God wanted to test Abraham's faith and told Abraham to sacrifice his son. As Abraham was about to kill his son, the Holy Spirit stopped him and said " You have proved your faith, now go and sacrifice a lamb instead."
Joseph lead the people to Egypt in line after Abraham died. Moses was then called by God to set the people free from slavery. While he was trying to free them, he received the 10 commandments. God made these rules to live by so that the people will never sin again.
God's covenants to the prophets played a big part in the church as we know it.
